Gift cards in Toast POS allow customers to pre-load balances that can be used as payment. Merchants can sell, top up, and redeem gift cards using dedicated features on the POS.
How to Sell or Top Up Gift Cards
To sell or add value to a gift card at the POS, follow these steps:
On the POS, tap the Gift Card button.
Select Add Value.
Enter the desired amount to load onto the gift card.
Scan the gift card to load the entered value. This action will create a line item on the bill for payment.
How to Redeem Gift Cards
To redeem a gift card at the Toast POS:
Navigate to the payments screen after finalizing the customer's order.
Select Gift Card as the payment method then click Scan.
Scan the gift card’s QR code. The balance will be automatically deducted from the card.
Troubleshooting Gift Card Features
If the option to manage gift cards (such as selling or redeeming) is not visible on the POS system, it indicates that gift card functions are not enabled. Here's how to resolve this issue:
Ensure that the gift card integration is activated for that location in the Toast back-office.
Verify that the Gift Card payment method is active in the POS configuration to make the Gift Card button available on the payments screen.
