Orders vs. Unit Transactions

Under ‘Loyalty’ > ‘Earn Rules’, you’ll find two options: Unit Transactions and Orders. Which one should you use to define your conversion ratio for loyalty points?

This depends on your active integrations. Currently, only a limited number of integrations support our Orders API for transactions.

If your program is already live and transactions are being processed, check each option to see whether it’s marked as “used” or “unused.”

If you’re unsure, it’s best practice to configure your conversion logic in both. Don’t worry—each transaction will only ever be processed once, by either your Order Rules or Unit Transaction Rules.

Understanding Order Rules

Within the Order Rules, there is a base rule, exactly like you’ll find under Unit Transactions. From there, you can build more specific logic within three main categories:

Order Content: Define earning rules based on specific products or product categories. (New Possibilities Here!!!)

Time and Place: Set rules based on the transaction’s location, date, or time.

Contact: Configure earning rules based on tier level or birthday.
